A Birthday Reflection.

Today's the 4th day of the 3rd month in the 21st year.
4321
A rare occurrence, that happens once in a century
Last time someone told me this it was 12/12/12.
A lot has happened since.
So on the occasion of my Birthday I decided to reflect a bit on the past decade.
A senior once told me,
"Wait until you get to our age and then you will miss your younger years."
A profound statement that had little impact on me then, but today I'd give anything to get one of those lost years back.
When the moment hits, you see how you've changed.
Your dreams, aspirations and character all seem different.
You are not an innocent child anymore, but a cog in this gigantic & continuously rotating wheel of the world.
I looked outside my window this morning and realised its been six years in this room.
I started out with two mattresses on the floor accompanied by a study table.
The walls slowly gained character, as posters appeared followed by cupboards layered with stickers of Disney characters and fast cars
The wardrobe lined with school uniforms soon grew in size. The posters evolved from gaming characters to motivational speeches.
As time flew by the uniforms faded away, the trusty guides and notebooks found themselves in an unceremonious pile in the corner of the room ready to be disposed.
School shoes that were religiously polished without fail began catching dust in the storeroom. My handy compass box found itself with other stationery biding its time tucked away in the depths of my cupboard.
"You cannot go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending."
A recollected moral from the movie Interstellar, one who's plot I finally understood.
If there is anything I've learnt through these years is that, life is fleeting and one must always seize their moments.
It's these moments that will define you, one must enjoy them while they last.
As the world will continue to pass me by, these little memories of my past will continue to linger on within.
